Your result for Howard Gardner's Eight Types of Intelligence Test... Naturalistic "This area has to do with nature, nurturing and relating information to one's natural surroundings. Those with it are said to have greater sensitivity to nature and their place within it, the ability to nurture and grow things, and greater ease in caring for, taming and interacting with animals. They may also be able to discern changes in weather or similar fluctuations in their natural surroundings. They are also good at recognizing and classifying different species. 'Naturalists' learn best when the subject involves collecting and analyzing, or is closely related to something prominent in nature; they also don't enjoy learning unfamiliar or seemingly useless subjects with little or no connections to nature. It is advised that naturalistic learners would learn more through being outside or in a kinesthetic way. Careers which suit those with this intelligence include scientists, naturalists, conservationists, gardeners and farmers." I have been thinking about this a lot lately. A lot of people have been showing support for the rspca and their new fundraiser cupcake day. http://www.rspcacupcakeday.com.au/ You know what? I cannot condone or support the rspca. I will *not* be supporting this event. By supporting the rspca, you are supporting an organisation that murders thousands of dogs and cats a year. I will not, in any way shape or form support the butchering of animals just because they fall into the "too hard" basket in terms of homing and there are too many. Now,before you all jump down my throat telling me what a great organisation the rspca is and how many animals they save, let me tell you this: I have worked in animal welfare, particularly cat rescue for a number of years. I am very familiar with the ins and outs of how many organisations work in our state. I am also fully aware it's a very complex social problem with no simple solution (the over population of cats and dogs). Thus, I support mandatory desexing of most animals an believe there should be enforced penalties for people who do not comply. I also believe, the bulk of these problems stem from irresponsible ownership and that people should be encouraged to go to the rspca/local pound and see how the situation *really is* particularly over Christmas/kitten season.... you'll see that the rspca and pounds are a charnel house. Only about 25% cats/kittens dumped at this time of year live to be given the chance to be homed. The rest are butchered, mothers, babies, the healthy the sick....It's not just old and sick animals that meet this fate, it's kittens and families too. There have been a number of occaisions where I have rescued Mother cats and all their babies as they were all going to be killed. *It is production line death*! They line them up and kill many at once, production line style.
While I understand that the rspca are grossly underfunded and the best of a bad bunch, I also believe them to be a "trigger happy" organisation who kill unecessarily and often with poor reason. I have a friend who volunteers there currently who told me of a dog she'd been working on, dog was fine but she was worried so she asked the rspca to call her if anything was going to happen to the dog. One day she walked in and found out he'd been put to sleep...no-one had called her. The reason? He jumped a fence........ when I asked, "Did he break a leg or something?" (Thinking maybe he'd been hurt so they'd euthenased) she said, no, they just dd not want him trying to jump the fence. For that, a perfectly healthy animal was summarily executed.
(Addendum to last, I do think the rspca have an excellent education program on pet ownership and this part pf what they do is very good.)
many believe there are no alternatives and that this killing is the only solution to an over population problem. Well, I beg to differ. There is no culture in Australia currently that there is an alternative but there are some organisations in other countries that are no kill and promote mandatory desexing and public education campaigns. I draw your attention to: Best Friends in Utah in the USA. Read about this group, they are no kill and amazing. http://www.bestfriends.org/ You can also watch them on foxtel on the documentary series "dogtown" on animal planet. They are proof positive that there is an alternative to killing unwanted animals. We need this sort of group in Australia. Just because one does not exist currently does not mean I am willing to support an organisation that kills. I work for a very small registered charity (I co-ordinate the cats) Best Friends Rescue. http://www.bestfriendsrescue.com/ Another great one to support is Peninsula Animal Aid down at Redcliffe. They do a very good job too. http://www.peninsulaanimalaid.com.au/ My dream is for us to have a sanctuary in a similar vein to the one at Utah so that Australia can slowly learn that it is not necessary to kill it's unwanted animals and that there is a better solution. Just because we are culturally indoctrinated to believe killing is the only answer does not mean that it is. I vehemently disagree and I believe there are viable solutions out there. For this reason and many more, I will not be supporting rspca cupcake day or any other fundraiser for the rspca. Please stop asking me. I support Best Friends Rescue. The alternative to death.

Your Score: Post-Punk/Old School You scored 200 Grats on showing your scene cred here (although you're probably offended by such a notion)! You scored as the Post-punk or Old School 'goth.' You've been into the scene since it first took root with the post-punk movement in the late 70's/early 80's and the eventual Dark Wave and No Wave bands. Your style is probably influenced more by the mods and Brit rockers than the Dracula set. Or maybe you've just become so jaded that you don't care what the hell you wear anymore.

Your Score: Akkadian You scored You are Akkadian, a blend of the incomprehensible symbols of the Sumerians with the unwritable sounds of the early Semitic peoples. However, the writing just doesn't suit the words and doesn't represent everything needed, so you end up a schizoid mess. Invented in Babylon, you're probably to blame for that tower story. However, crazy as you are, you're much loved and appreciated, and remain actively in use by records keepers long after schools have switched to other languages.

Your Score: The Cat You scored 53% domestic, 15% gregarious, 25% trickster, and 64% intellect! Domestic, Solitary, Serious, Intelectual: you are the Cat! Cat represents a balance of strength in both physical and spiritual, psychic and sensual powers, merging these two worlds into one. Curious, intelligent, and physically adept, cat people tend to live in a world all their own.
This test categorized you based on four different axes of personality, which were then associated with a different animal. The four axes, as well as all possible results are explained below.
Wild/Domestic: This first axis categorizes you based on how much you are drawn to the outdoors, versus how much you are drawn to civilized situations. Domesticity has many shapes and forms, and varies from the joy of dolphins leaping next to a ship to the steadfast loyalty of a family dog.
Gregarious/Solitary: This axis measures how solitary you are. If you scored high, it means that you enjoy the company of other people, while a low score indicates that you prefer a more solitary lifestyle.
Trickster/Serious: This axis measures how well you line up with conventional trickster archetypes. People who fall into this archetype have a sense of humor and an excitable, highly chaotic streak. Scoring low doesn't mean that you don't have a sense of humor; it just means that you probably don't think dynamite is very funny.
Intellectual/Emotional: This last axis determines whether you are more emotional -- acting based on feelings and instinct, or rational and intelectual -- acting more on thought than on your gut feelings.

We had a 16 year old cat boarding with us, P Cat.... yesterday she was admitted to the Creek Rd specialist centre with renal failure. She is currently rehydrating on a drip with antibiotics for a urinary tract infection she also has due to the kidney failure. Poor P Cat. She is a beautiful black kitty who had been with us for a month... she was drinking a lot of water and gradually went off her food and lost some weight so I took her to the vet. I thought it must have been the kidneys... I only wish I'd worked it out earlier so I could have taken her in earlier. :( Poor P cat. They say that after the antibiotics and rehydration she may well be ok for a little while. Hopefully this is not the end, she is a gorgeous girl and we are very upset. I feel very very guilty that I did not work it out earlier. Pretty stupid of me. :(
